A Marine and his war song
November 17, 2008the impact of war song.
So here i was last night reading an email my step brother kevin sent me from afghanastan....he's 19 years old and joined the marines. when joining he thought he was going to Iraq. going into the last stage of training they sent his platoon to california to train in the mojave desert. A desert that hits around 120 degrees, similar to iraqs weather. the last day they were there they got breaking news that they were instead going to afghanastan. a place where it is negative degrees and constant fighting is happening. So while reading this letter about him sleeping in sand bag huts in freezing weather in the mountains i only felt it was right to then listen to war song. The lyrics stood out to me so much and it really just made me think how crazy things are these days. When i heard he line "i hope you never see this"(same line thats on the back of all sides album) it really sumed things up. But my bro knows, everyone here is waiting for him at home.......
.........Crack the morning, up and running quick No sleep again last night That's the way it is Out in the open under broken skies I feel every foot step I see everybody's eyes.........
